Cultural Practice

At Te Ara Koropiko we have a whole school practice for our Kapa Haka and Pasifika performances once a week. We perform at the Kahukura Cultural Festival “Maunga Teitei” held every year in term 4.

- Hāngī
Hāngī

Te Ara Koropiko hosts our annual hāngī in the beginning of the year. The students are involved in digging the pit and preparing the vegetables. Everyone is present for the hāngī pit closed over. We begin the evening with a Mihi Whakatau to welcome new families to our kura and all the students perform waiata and haka. The whole school staff serve our
school community and we all eat together on picnic blankets.

Fono Hui

Once a term we host our Māori and Pāsifika whānau for an evening of fun and connections. We bring kai to share and play games. There is always an opportunity for the students and whānau to perform a waiata or siva!

At the end of the year we celebrate the achievements of our Māori and Pāsifika students. We invite all their whānau to join us for kai and the presentation of certificates.
